Just about a month ago I partnered up with Green Circle Salons to help reduce waste in my salon and, as their slogan goes, make beauty sustainable.
I couldn't be happier with the results! Not only am I now able to recycle all those foils, colour tubes and excess product, I am saving ALL the hair from every client to be used in oil spill clean ups and a bit to medical research.
Here's an overall view of my "garbage" containers from the end of July - one full month after starting the program:
As you can see above, my actual garbage can is almost empty! Virtually NOTHING!!! Yay!!
I found that with this system in place I also was a lot more accurate in my colour measurements/usage (important for salon cost too, aside from our planet....)

And, even though our local recycling picks up some plastic, Green Circle takes it all and deals with the leftover chemicals inside them.
All in all, I think this was one of the smartest business ideas around for salons. They will even take empty aerosol cans (hairspray in my salon? never......LOL) I can even take YOURS - feel free to drop them off! Leave them on my front patio if the shop is closed.
